Kiln has launched a new liability unit to underwrite and support general liability risks.
The new product line will initially focus on writing primary and excess business in the open market, as well as supporting the insurance and reinsurance group’s position in the binding authority field.
Led by Chris Jones, it will operate with a $25 million line size, writing across all business sectors for risks domiciled in all territories worldwide, excluding the USA.
Sectors include: onshore energy; utilities and telecommunications; contractors and construction industry; single project construction; mining and natural resources; manufacturing; chemicals; railways and transportation; sports and leisure; property owners, and hotels and real estate.

The Employers’ Liability Tracing Office (ELTO) has welcomed new regulations from the Financial Services Authority (FSA) requiring insurers to publish data on employers’ liability (EL) policies, and all new claims made against such policies.

Allianz Commercial has teamed up with sister company, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), to provide aviation products liability insurance for commercial customers.
The insurance covers manufacturers or maintenance organisations against liability arising out of products sold, serviced or supplied, and Allianz makes the point that this type of policy is normally only available from aviation insurers in the London market, typically on a stand-alone basis.
However, the new offering, which is underwritten by the aviation underwriting team at AGCS, is available via the insurer’s Commercial Select policy and therefore accessible through Allianz Commercial’s regional branch network.
